FERRARI F50

The Ferrari F50 was made in 1995 to celebrate the company's 50th anniversary. The F50 is a two door, two seat convertible sports car with a removable hardtop. Only 349 cars were made, one less than Ferrari estimated they could sell. Formula One technology would be a major selling point for the F50. As such, Ferrari made no compromises to comfort when designing the car.

Lamborghini

Lamborghini has created a dazzling, new-aged Miura concept in the mold of the original, which celebrates its 40th birthday this year. The notion is similar to that of the Ford GT: maintain the classic's design ethos while modernizing the details and increasing the overall package size. The first Miura was bodied by Bertone, but this one is the work of the Lamborghini's Centro Stile studio's Walter de' Silva, newly appointed design director (who also retains design responsibility for Audi).Billed as "strictly a concept" by President and CEO Stephan Winkleman, the Miura could be put into limited production if there's enough demand, say insiders. If built, the Miura would use elements of the Gallardo's space frame and the 512-horse, 5.0-liter V-10, mounted longitudinally, cutting both cost and development time. Emulating the original Miura's transverse engine layout would require a prohibitively expensive new transmission, says Audi concept development chief, Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg.Hackenberg hints there may be less technology aboard, positioning the Miura as a more focused, raw-edged sports car. It's likely the car wouldn't get the Gallardo's all-wheel drive-system, with the additional benefits of saving weight and cost. Lamborghini will likely shop the car around potential customers, as Porsche did with the Carrera GT. If it can garner enough commitments--around 1000--then this nouveau Miura could get the green light.

Bugatti Engines

After all the rumors, the delays, and the speculation, the outrageous 252-mph Bugatti Veyron 16.4 will hit the road later this year. Read below to discover what makes this car so super.CockpitInterior is simple, but luxurious and fully equipped. "Boast gauge" next to tach indicates engine power output. Veyron is intended to be a comfortable two-seater that can be driven long distances; several of the 11 prototypes built so far have completed more than 50,000 miles, each following the same grueling test regimen as that of regular VW models.EngineDirect-injection 8.0-liter W-16 has 64 valves and four turbos. Power output has been confirmed at 987 horses at 6000 rpm, with 922 pound-feet of torque at just 2200. Engine drives all four wheels (with a fixed 30/70 front/rear torque split) through a seven-speed DSG twin-clutch trans. Bugatti claims 0-to-60 mph in under 3.0 seconds, 0-to-124 mph in 6.0, and 0-to-186 mph in 14.0.

BMW's Design Department

BMW's design department has been working overtime lately. Just last month, the German automaker unveiled its M1 Homage Concept at the Villa d'Este Concours on the shores of Lake Como, Italy. Now, Munich has officially taken the wraps off of a new design study called the GINA Light Visionary Model, a creation BMW says shouldn't be thought of as "just another concept car," but rather "a whole new approach to automotive design."
With its GINA (Geometry and Functions In "N" Adaptions) model, BMW set out to explore the creative freedom that might be offered with future cars while using a traditional front-mounted eight-cylinder engine and rear-drive platform. The surface of the concept features a new fabric material that BMW says is highly resistant to expansion, durable, and flexible. Underneath the covering material is a light aluminum subframe that is moveable via electric and hydraulic controls, allowing the surface itself to be reshaped according to the owner's desire. The usual elements of production cars -- doors, wheel arches, a trunk lid, engine hood, and roof -- are not present in the conventional sense. Rather, the body consists of just four components: a front panel that leads to the edge of the windscreen, two side panels (one on each side of the car), and a rear deck panel.

The A5 Spaceback, based on last year's Roadjet concept, hasn't been approved for the U.S. yet.
